Goalscoring tips #1 – Hull City v Blackpool

5 Aug

Main Bet: Fryatt (Hull) – first goalscorer @ 11/2 [VCBet, SkyBet]

Decent shout: Brady (Hull) – e/w first goalscorer @ 12/1 [Bet365]

Watch in-play : Sutherland (Blackpool)
————————————————–
Sky start our football season viewing with a colorful affair at the KC stadium in the battle of oranges of Hull and Blackpool.

The former Premiership underdogs find themselves back in the Championship looking to get back into the big time.

Blackpool’s task looks harder at the minute with the loss of most of their firepower last season including Charlie Adams and DJ Campbell.
Hull consolidated under a new manager last term and hope to kick on this.

Let’s take a look at the goalscoring options available to both teams.

HULL CITY
With McLean and Simpson doubt’s for this game the striker roles are limited to Fryatt and new signing Adebola.
Never seen Adebola as a main source of goals, so proven scorer Fryatt looks the obvious choice here with Hull the favourites to win.
Captain Koren can weigh in with goals but Man U loanee Robbie Brady looks a good price @ 12/1 to net first and show his Premiership potential with 4/1 if he nets any other time.

BLACKPOOL

As already mentioned, Blackpool have lost some firepower and replaced them with Super Kevin Phillips and Barry Ferguson among others.
Phillips should still do the biz at this level but is getting on a bit, as is Ormenrod. The likes of Billy Clarke and Taylor-Fletcher will look to star at this level again but it’s youngster Craig Sutherland who’s caught my eye.
Had a good pre-season after coming over from America, the young scot may not start but if he comes on, maybe worth keeping an eye on his price in-play for the next goal.
He’s first goalscorer price has already shrunk this week.

SUMMARY
A few have predicted this to be a low scoring contest which makes the 10/1 no goalscorer quite interesting.
However, I can’t see Ollie abandoning his attacking tactics and with the same leaky defense, Hull should take advantage.
Fryatt for me today with a little interest on the new boys in the teams.

Return of the geek

5 Aug

I was munching away on my BBQ hula hoops for breakfast this morning when rather than thinking, this us not a stable eating habit for a man of my age, I remembered I had a blog lying around here somewhere.
I scrambled around past saved games of FM2011 and various web design mags I’ve acquired over the past few months, under the Racing Post pullout tipping Coventry to go down again this season and round the back of the wedding invites the wife to be is making to send out for next years event.
Of course it’s always in the last place you left it, stuck in mid February fixtures, gathering dust at WordPress HQ.

So I return to the fold with new 2011/12 season on our doorstep and attempt to provide some more betting insight and advise.

After last seasons experiment to tip Premiership games in certain markets, I’ve been working on a new niche way to tipping. The tips did produce just under 3 points worth of profit to level stakes before I did a Zlatan style disappearing act for the rest of the season.
However, after a few events where the Mrs and kids needing looking after, I turned my attentions to the goalscoring markets.

I plan to launch a home for goalscoring tips and articles on the players to watch, which is also why I’ve been studying CSS, HTML5 and the likes to hit the ground running.

For time being though I’m gonna post a few tips for matches coming up here and see how we go.

Glad to be back, stay tuned for my first match preview of the season……

Premiership tips – round #18 part 2

22 Feb

It’s been a while again since I’ve had a chance to post any tips, but my favourite two teams to back for goals this season are playing in a rearranged game tonight, so looks good for a couple of bets.

As you may have gathered through my twitter, I’m looking at goalscoring bets at the minute and gearing up for a new blog/website to highlight the art of hitting the back of the net and related betting.

Fancy an each way bet on Defoe tonight for the first goal, at 9/2 with 6/4 if scored anytime.

Onto the main bets though…..

Blackpool v Tottenham

These two teams have been scoring for fun all season and so it’s not a surprise that the both teams to score price is 1/2. Not a great value shot, so I have a couple of other ways to play it.

First up is a correct score, as previously picked against West Ham and with 9/1 on 2-1 to the away team, it looks good for a punt.

Also late goals feature heavily in Blackpool games and so a goal in the last 10 minutes should work in our favour.

1 point – Tottenham 2-1 @ 9/1 (Stan James)

2 points – Goal between 79 and 90+ minutes – yes @ 10/11 (William Hill)

Premiership tips – last minute bets

2 Feb

Haven’t posted for a few weeks as been busy with other stuff.
However, taken a quick look at tonight’s games and here’s where my hard earned is going.

Blackpool v West Ham

Time to oppose Blackpool I’m afraid, with the Adam saga looking to have a negative affect on the team.
West Ham signed a couple of interesting players and looking at a regular scoreline at Bloomfield Road.

2 points – Over 2.5 goals @ 8/11 (Coral)
0.5 point – West Ham 2-1 @ 11/1 (Betfred)

Fulham v Newcastle

Fulham getting back to form now with Zamora not far away from a return.
Dembele is a star in the making and could be a good goalscorer bet for tonight @ 7/1 for the first however the win for Fulham looks good against a Carol-less Toon.

2 points – Fulham @ Evens (Stan James)

Blackburn v Tottenham

Spurs are missing loads of first team center backs and so taking a punt on an improving Rovers seems logical.

2 points – Blackburn @ 21/10 (BetFred)

Premiership tips – Blackpool v Liverpool

12 Jan

Well it’s been just over a week since the last set of games but seems like forever with so much going on.
Nearly clawed back into the black with 2 of the 3 HT coming in last time, plus Wolves showing value always pays but West Ham and Bolton let us down to get back a profit of just under 2 points.

Tonight see a re-arranged game and I need to get involved.

Blackpool v Liverpool

Both got knocked out of the FA cup this week but Blackpool rested more players to try and take survival in the Premiership a certainty.

King Kenny was a bit unlucky at United and I’m not sure whether he can turn around the ‘Woy’ away day blues here tonight.

However the stat that sticks out is Blackpool haven’t kept a clean sheet at home so far this season plus have also scored in every home game.

So will swerve a first corner bet in favour of goals goals goals again.

2 points – Both team to score @ 4/5 (Bet365)

Premiership tips – round #22

5 Jan

Well got a shed load of bets for tonight, hopefully with some big profit.
We’ve got two bring price underdogs, a solid home banker plus a HT trixie.

Bolton v Wigan

Gonna have another go at making some money out of Bolton and hopefully they will have enough to beat Wigan, especially with Charles Insomnia missing.

2 points – Bolton @ 5/4 (Canbet)

Wolves v Chelsea

Chelsea’s form is awful and the price for them is shocking. Missed the home’s side 7/1 this morning but on 6/1 still.

0.5 point – Wolves @ 6/1 (Stan James)

Newcastle v West Ham

Hammers enter this game in far better form than at the start of Christmas and shouldn’t be much between them and Newcastle now Pardew is in charge.

1 points – West Ham @ 7/2 (Stan James)

Blackburn v Liverpool | Arsenal v Man City | Everton v Spurs

All 3 of these games look good for a HT draw, so going a Trixie on these, which is 3 doubles and a treble. Two right and a small profit, all 3 and happy days. Betfair had best priced for these.

1 point Trixie (4 pts total) – HT draw @ 2.25, 2.25 and 2.38 (Betfair)

No tips today

4 Jan

Hi folks. Happy New Year.
These four rounds of games have completely caught me out this Christmas and I’m afraid I have nothing on offer today either.
With a large family and plenty of sickness bugs, it’s been non stop at FG HQ but hopefully we’re on track now.
Been working hard on a new rating system of late but may find a couple of bets tomorrow.
Nothing tonight but first corner to Blackpool is tempting.

Premiership tips – round #20

29 Dec

The last week and a half has not been kind to the fg clan with sickness in one form or another rife in the house. This and last minute Christmas shopping has meant no time for football, betting or the blog during the period. In fact I didn’t realise there was a set of fixtures yesterday until I spotted Final Score
on Sky’s TV guide. I’ve missed out round 19 then and most of 20, though three big looking games tonight, and a couple of tasty bets at Stamford Bridge await.

Chelsea v Bolton

Chelsea’s prices still seem to be set on their old form not current, and although they say form is temporary and class is permanent, I’m hoping Bolton can
continue the Blues misery. Bolton’s last two away games haven’t quite gone to plan with two 1-0 defeats, but they are certainly better than the 11/1 on offer for a win here.
However, as safety measure, I’ll take them with a goal advantage, and hope Chelski don’t click and start scoring freely again.
Also fancy both teams to score, so 11/10 looks nice.

2 points – Bolton +1 – Asian Handicap @ 15/8 (Bet365)
2 points – Both teams to score @ 11/10
(BetFred)

Premiership tips – round #18

20 Dec

With only 2 games surviving the pre-Christmas freeze this weekend, it looked likely that we wouldn’t be betting the week and saving the pennies for Santa’s sherry and a carrot or two for the reindeer’s.

As it is Man City look to take advantage and end up top of the Christmas tree by playing their game against Everton. Let’s hope it’s a bit better than the last Sky game when my Leicester City couldn’t handle snow bound Ipswich.

Man City v Everton

The superstars of City must be cursing the groundsmen at Eastlands as this completes only a trio of games this weekend in the Premiership but they can end the night top.

Tevez is still having a strop and him being the main goal threat, this doesn’t look primed for a high scoring game. Everton also don’t hit the back of the net, with Cahill being the main worry for any defence they face. He will play off a striker, and if it’s Beckford, the chances of them scoring disappears even more.

So a two pronged attack for me tonight, with the defensive minded Citeh against barn door missing Toffee men, HT draw and Unders.

1 point – Half Time result – draw @ 6/5 (Coral)

2 points – Under 2.5 goals @ 3/4 (Ladbrokes)
