No tips today

4 Jan

Hi folks. Happy New Year.
These four rounds of games have completely caught me out this Christmas and I’m afraid I have nothing on offer today either.
With a large family and plenty of sickness bugs, it’s been non stop at FG HQ but hopefully we’re on track now.
Been working hard on a new rating system of late but may find a couple of bets tomorrow.
Nothing tonight but first corner to Blackpool is tempting.

Premiership tips – round #20

29 Dec

The last week and a half has not been kind to the fg clan with sickness in one form or another rife in the house. This and last minute Christmas shopping has meant no time for football, betting or the blog during the period. In fact I didn’t realise there was a set of fixtures yesterday until I spotted Final Score
on Sky’s TV guide. I’ve missed out round 19 then and most of 20, though three big looking games tonight, and a couple of tasty bets at Stamford Bridge await.

Chelsea v Bolton

Chelsea’s prices still seem to be set on their old form not current, and although they say form is temporary and class is permanent, I’m hoping Bolton can
continue the Blues misery. Bolton’s last two away games haven’t quite gone to plan with two 1-0 defeats, but they are certainly better than the 11/1 on offer for a win here.
However, as safety measure, I’ll take them with a goal advantage, and hope Chelski don’t click and start scoring freely again.
Also fancy both teams to score, so 11/10 looks nice.

2 points – Bolton +1 – Asian Handicap @ 15/8 (Bet365)
2 points – Both teams to score @ 11/10

Premiership tips – round #18

20 Dec

With only 2 games surviving the pre-Christmas freeze this weekend, it looked likely that we wouldn’t be betting the week and saving the pennies for Santa’s sherry and a carrot or two for the reindeer’s.

As it is Man City look to take advantage and end up top of the Christmas tree by playing their game against Everton. Let’s hope it’s a bit better than the last Sky game when my Leicester City couldn’t handle snow bound Ipswich.

Man City v Everton

The superstars of City must be cursing the groundsmen at Eastlands as this completes only a trio of games this weekend in the Premiership but they can end the night top.

Tevez is still having a strop and him being the main goal threat, this doesn’t look primed for a high scoring game. Everton also don’t hit the back of the net, with Cahill being the main worry for any defence they face. He will play off a striker, and if it’s Beckford, the chances of them scoring disappears even more.

So a two pronged attack for me tonight, with the defensive minded Citeh against barn door missing Toffee men, HT draw and Unders.

1 point – Half Time result – draw @ 6/5 (Coral)

2 points – Under 2.5 goals @ 3/4 (Ladbrokes)

Snow tips today

18 Dec

No I’m not suggesting the usual ‘don’t eat yellow snow’ or wrap up warm but due to only 2 games on in the Premiership today we have no bets.
I have my eye on a couple tomorrow, so stay tuned and will write them up later.

Premiership tips – round #17 – part 2

13 Dec

Well, at last some profit on Saturday thanks to Fulham and Sunderland’s draw. Blackpool nicked the points but not the first corner but still 1.2 points up.
Was close to backing both to score yesterday in Spurs game but wasn’t sure about Chelsea, so left it.

So onto tonight’s mega match. I remember making a tidy profit off a 2-2 correct score bet a good few seasons back on this fixture but I can’t see that score tonight.

Man United v Arsenal

There’s been a gamble on Man U for this one and when I looked at the both to score bet, I’m not sure Arsenal can score here. There defense is dodgy and seemed to have topped the league by default rather than deserving it.
The 5/2 on a win to nil at Victor Chandler was tempting but with the fact that Man U have not conceded at home in the first half all season, a 13/8 bet on a HT lead looks good.

1 point – Half Time result – Man United @ 13/8 (Totesport)

Premiership tips – round #17

11 Dec

Just got time to posts today’s bets in-between shopping trips.
Won a couple of bets last week but still a loss but very small one.
Some interesting games this round including 2 big ones in Spurs v Chelsea and Man U v Arsenal. Might post some tips for those tomorrow.
We also got 2 Birmingham derbies which I’ll sure the West Midlands police are happy with!

Anyway, going with a couple of old favourites this season, starting at Craven Cottage.

Fulham v Sunderland

Things have taking a downward turn for Fulham this season after last seasons success and a lack of firepower could be see them leave the Premiership come May.
Sunderland don’t have that trouble with Bent, Ghan and Wellbeck full of goals. However trying fit them all in is proving tricky and causing a negative slant on the creative side.
As such, I can see a HT draw here, maybe with the Mackems taking it in the second half.

2 points – Half time result – draw @ 11/10 (Stan James)

Stoke City v Blackpool

Blackpool are back in action again and hopefully raring to go from the off.
It’s the usual format, attack from kick-off and hopefully nick the first corner. Victor Chandler are offering the market as well as Bet365 today.

1 point – First corner – Blackpool @ 6/4 (VCBet)

Premiership tips – round #16

4 Dec

After a late pitch inspection, the tips are ready to brave the cold and claw back some money.
Another loss last week, though everyone’s favourite underdogs Blackpool and Bolton landed me my first 2 point win but Chelsea let me down again.
Blackpool are off, so can’t look to them for profit but Bolton can help again.

Man City v Bolton

Both teams in good form but Bolton have been the more impressive in their rise up the table and Coyle and Elmander have bagged awards for November.
With the attacking tendencies of Bolton, City may well sit back and hit the Trotters on the break, so a HT draw looks a good starting place.

2 points – Half Time result – draw @ 11/8 (Can Bet)

Blackburn v Wolves

Big Sam will have been itching to get his team back out and show he doesn’t always roll over and let Sir Alex rub his belly while his team collapses.
Wolves had a good comeback last week but always have trouble holding leads which is always good for a both to score bet.
However I always feel teams up their game after a big defeat and hope Rovers will take all 3 points today.

1 point – Blackburn @ 4/5 (Paddy Power)

Wigan v Stoke

Wigan look on the slippery slop back to the Championship after going 4 games without a win. Moses is also out for 3 months now and they could be bottom by Christmas.
Stoke have improved over the last few months and a surprising stat that they would top the table on second half results only could work for us here.
Half time draw again plus a nibble on a Stoke win looks good.

2 points – Half Time result – draw @ 11/10 (Coral)
1 point – Stoke @ 6/4 (Bet365)
