Premiership tip – round #9

23 Oct

Another week and another bit of profit to add to the bank, as we sit 6.74 points to the good since the start of the season.

That means if each point equates to a £100 stake, we’d have £674 more than in August.

Last week only produced a small amount as Arsenal came back from 1-0 down to win a penalty and land my half time draw bet.

Blackpool’s corner bet failed me for the first time this season and indeed despite starting the game very strongly as usual, they did not win their first corner until the 63rd minute! I have done a bit of investigation into their corner activity so far this season and they have produced a low amount despite my success with the early flag kick. Only failing against the 3 big teams Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City. The 11/10 against Birmingham is tempting but we’ll leave this first corner bet for now.

So in a set a fixtures where I’ve had more changes of heart than Wayne Rooney this week, I’ve gone for the following couple of bets plus I may have a go at the Man City v Arsenal game if I have time to research.

So, if you can by-pass the apathy on their success, we’ll head over to the Hawthorns first….

West Brom v Fulham

Another week and another Fulham bet! This time we’re taking them on and hoping West Brom can go one better than last time we backed them, when they drew with Spurs.

The Baggies have been collecting praise from all parties over the last few weeks, with key results highlighting the excellence of Di Matteo work.

He has adapted he’s team accordingly throughout the season and as well as 4-2-3-1 he has used 4-4-1-1/4-4-2/4-1-4-1 when required.

The amount of draws maybe more of a concern from a betting point of view, but with the Big 4 all out of the way plus Spurs, they will look to kick on and get more points on the board. Hull and Burnley have had similar starts in recent seasons and it can easily go wrong if the results start to slide.

They are playing a Fulham side who are shorn of their 4 main midfielders including Danny Murphy and Dickson Etuhu, who control their midfield. With Zamora out long term as well, it all counts as negatives for Mark Hughes men, who lost for the first time this season in their last game.

I must be on the right track with the bet as the 5/4 that was available Thursday soon disappeared and I managed to get 6/5 at Sky Bet instead (though it was available at most bookies). However the price is now 11/10 for anyone wanting to get on and anything over Evens still looks value.

1 point – West Brom to win @ 6/5 (SkyBet)

Tottenham v Everton

Both teams come into the game on the back of big results, Everton a good win over rivals Liverpool, while Spurs were humiliated against Inter Milan before Bale gave them something to cheer about.

Strangely this fixture has been a regular points taker for Everton over the years and with things looking back on track for them and Yakubu deciding to play for a change, I feel Moyes’s men could get a win here.

Van de Vaart returns for Spurs and this could well be a high scoring game.

Gonna take the security of the draw here and though I missed the 15/8 have taken 7/4 on an away win with money back if a draw.

1 point – Everton win (DNB) @ 7/4 (Boyles)
