Premiership tips – round #8

16 Oct

Those of you with eagle eyes will have spotted we have jumped to round 8 with no round 7 post to be found.

To those of you who didn’t know, the latest edition to the fg clan arrived 4 weeks early and I’m sure you can understand I have been a little tied up with looking after her and her 5 older brothers and sisters. I’m afraid there’s no guarantee’s if I publish my tips but I will try my best.

Anyway, I’m back after missing out on Blackpool’s success over Liverpool among other results but in round #6 we did land 3 out of 3 and have won our last 5 tips. I’m not sure what our current profit is but it’s around 6 points from what I remember. Full figures in the next post.

So, looking through this weeks games, going with a couple of the usual procedures we’ve used so far this season, and try another goal scorer bet.

Arsenal v Birmingham

In their last home game against West Brom, Arsenal got well and truly tonked by the Baggies, in a game Di Matteo’s men deserved to win after taking the game to the top 4 team. Their use of 4-2-3-1 has proved very successful this season and sees them sitting sixth and continuing the success of the promoted sides since we re-started the league in August.

I have on a couple occasions taken on the Gunners with a half time bet, normally when the face a solid 4-4-2 setup, which usually stifles their game. This game looks prime for that theory again, and so the half time draw could we be landed at a decent price.

Birmingham have been a solid unit over the last season or so and despite the loss of their home record to Everton last time, could well take heart from the local rivals success last time at the Emirates and try to hold their own against the Barcelona wannabes.

1 point – Half Time result – Draw @ 15/8 (Bet365)

Fulham v Tottenham

Here are two teams who matches I have regularly got involved with this season but this time I’ll look at a player bet rather than team.

Basically Rafael van der Vaart has been scoring for fun of late for Spurs and looks as if he has a free role to do as we wants under ‘Arry. As such he looks a decent value bet to score against Fulham and we’ll take the price on Betfair rather than risk the wrath of Bet365 who are the best bookie price of 13/5.

0.5 point – Rafael van der Vaart to score @ 11/4 (Betfair)

Blackpool v Man City

Finally, you know it was coming, here is the regular selection of that Blackpool corner bet, just too good to turn down again. The good news is that the game is live on Sunday and so more bookies are available for this bet not just Bet365 and so we won’t keep hammering their pockets.

I guess it doesn’t need much explanation, but Ollie’s men are under estimated again and we will be backing them to attack from the off and nick the first corner.

I thought that they would be going for goals and 3 points against what looked to be beatable teams but it seems Holloway doesn’t care if it’s Wigan, Arsenal or Liverpool their playing, he will attack and his team have done him proud. After defeat to Blackburn in round 6 it was interesting to see how they responded and of course the did so by beating Liverpool at Anfield.

Worth another go eh?

1 point – First Corner – Blackpool @ 6/5 (SkyBet)
