World Cup 2010 – Day #6 tips

16 Jun

Hondurus v Chile

I may have to re-think my pre-tournament expectation of Honduras after digging deeper into how they play for this game. I love an underdog and with Wilson Palacios they looked to have some star qualities.

However apart from him they seems to have little but a few minor Premiership stars on board and they could struggle for goals.

Chile on the other hand have attacking flair and most clued up footy fans are looking forward to them and Spain going head to head in this Group.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side push high up the pitch to squeeze the opponents out of the game and despite the fact they can get caught on the break, it could also mean more offsides for Hondurus who will sit back.

As such I’m gonna look forward to see how these two play and take a chance on an offside bet for a change.

1 point Hondurus to get caught offside first @ 29/20 (Bwin)

Spain v Switzerland

The last of the games in round 1 finishes with favourites Spain taking on the Swiss, and I think that an easy win for the Spanish could kick start the World Cup entertainment.

The Swiss are without striker Alexander Frei, and could struggle to score, which won’t be a problem for Spain.

The decision now is how to get with the Spanish, as backing odds of 1/3 doesn’t appeal to me.

With Frei out, going with a win to nil bet as with the Germans, and then a correct score and Villa to score 2 or more goals.

2 points Spain win to nil @ 4/5 (Ladbrokes/ToteSport)

0.5 points Villa to score 2+ @ 7/2 (Skybet/Bet365)

0.5 points 4-0 to Spain @ 16/1 (888sport)

South Africa v Uruguay

And so back round to the host nation, this time up against Uruguay.

From what I seen of the Bafana Bafana, they struggled early on and were probably slightly lucky to take the lead against the Mexicans. If they had converted a few of their chances it would have been game over.

Despite the fact that Uruguay have more fire power, this could be another low scorer despite the fact that both teams will feel they need to win.

I have South Africa to qualify from the group, so a defeat for them wouldn’t be too bad if I get with Uruguay in this game.

1 point Uruguay @ 29/20 (Betfair)
