World Cup 2010 – Day #5 tips

15 Jun

New Zealand v Slovakia

With Italy and Paraguay drawing last night, we could have a surprise leader in Group F, as the 2 weakest sides go head 2 head today, and I fancy a couple of large price bets.

New Zealand are ranked 32nd in the overall betting but I think their formation could nick a goal at least, so gonna chance a win from behind for Slovakia.

Slovakia’s Šesták has been tipped by several as a good overall bet for the golden boot at over 350/1 on Betfair, so this is the game he needs to fill his boots with goals. I’ve had a bit of the generous 10/1 at Bet365 for 2 or more goals with others having at 4/1 or less! Bet price available now is 8/1 at Paddy Power.

0.5 point Šesták to score 2 or more goals @ 10/1 (Bet365)

0.5 point Slovakia to come from behind & win @ 8/1 (William Hill)

Ivory Coast v Portugal

A tricky game to work out this one, and I feel a low scoring event, despite the fact that Drogba and Ronaldo will be on show. Drogba may struggle with his cast on his broken arm and Ronaldo may struggle due to bad tactics.

I looked at the old woodwork bet for Ronnie but William Hill have put him at 5/2 which is way to low. I must have got them running scared!!

I was thinking 0-0 or Portugal clean sheet but Drogba if the most likely scorer for Ivory Coast, so going for a straight draw bet.

1 point Draw @ 23/10 (BetFred)

Brazil v North Korea

Everyone will expect Brazil to romp home in this game, against minnows North Korea but I can see a tight game against the defense minded Korens.

I had originally considered a 6-0 or 7-0 scoreline but I can see it being by 2 or 3 goals at the most.

Going with 2-0 scoreline and Robinho to score.

1 point 2-0 Brazil @ 9/2 (general)

1 point Robinho to score anytime @ 6/5 (Stan James)
